Hasamu young, or "billies" as they are usually called, are rarely if ever seen. They are fiercely protected by their parents and relatives. The reason for this is that each Hasamu couple can only produce one young at a time and can only mate once a year.

The young themselves are completely harmless. They have no claws, psychic abilities or even eyesight. They remain in this helpless state for quite a while, growing a little larger every day. No one has ever seen the complete transition from the billy to the adult Hasamu because the young often disappear when it's time to grow up completely only to return within a day or so as a completely grown Hasamu.

Once they are adults, Hasamu eat pretty much anything, but only in small quantities. It is believed that Hasamu keep their meals small to maximize their speed when running. They may make a feast of a fallen crow, but they are far from hunters themselves.

A grown Hasamu usually stays in the place of its birth, but sometimes they will wander to other ravines in search of a better mate to enlarge the gene pool. It's during these travels that the Hasamu are spotted and often followed to other Hasamu settlements.

If one were to raise a Hasamu young to its adulthood, it would prove to be one of the best companions anyone could ask for. They are protective, friendly, inquisitive, intelligent and caring for their human counterpart. It's been discovered that they also have the ability to learn human speech if given the opportunity.

Truly, a Hasamu is a unique and interesting creature that is worth loving care by anyone that comes across one.
